We’re always on the lookout for talented people to join our team across editorial, creative, digital and commercial disciplines. Please send speculative CVs, along with a short note on what you can bring to the company, to cain@couriermedia.co

Reporter

Courier is on the hunt for a talented and motivated reporter to help drive our editorial coverage on the world of modern business. This is an exciting opportunity to be a key editorial member in a fast-growing media startup.

You will cover new businesses, reporting on how they work and why they matter with authority, authenticity and attitude — but also a healthy dose of skepticism, with the ability to distinguish PR hype from real insight. Courier’s coverage spans sectors, so you will be equally interested in cracking open the supply chain of a streetwear brand as you are curious about the business model of a new fitness app.

What you’ll do:

  • Discover and write about emerging brands and business models
  • Oversee our email newsletter Courier Weekly
  • Edit the newsy ‘Now’ section of the magazine
  • Assist writing for our monthly newspaper Courier London
  • Be our eyes and ears at conferences and trade events
  • Work within the editorial team to help set the overall news agenda

What you’ll bring:

  • Passion for writing about new businesses in industries as diverse as fintech and fashion
  • At least 1 to 3 years experience working for a magazine, newspaper or similar media
  • Previous experience writing about startups, small businesses or consumer brands
  • A crystal clear idea of what constitutes the perfect Courier story
  • The ability to distill often complex ideas into fun and interesting stories
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Adaptability, a sense of humour and a willingness to continuously learn and grow

This is a full-time position and is based at Courier’s headquarters in Spitalfields, east London. Salary commensurate with experience.

To apply, please send a CV, a cover letter explaining why you’re a good fit, and links to any relevant clips to daniel@couriermedia.co.

You’ll be responsible for planning, commissioning and editing the section, and working with the design team to present them in a creative and engaging way. In addition, you’ll help take Workshop off the printed page and extend these stories into related products, from email and podcasts to events.

What you’ll do:

  • Write, commission and edit the ‘Workshop’ section of the magazine
  • Produce stories in a variety of engaging and innovative formats
  • Help extend Workshop into new products, from digital to events

What you’ll bring:
