The Grade II listed ticket hall at Fulham Broadway station has been transformed into a swish new food market by 18-month-old company Market Halls.
Just before it opened for the soft launch on Friday 4 May, Courier popped in to capture the founders and staff getting ready for their first lunchtime shift.
Inside, the space maintains many of the features of its past life – the bartenders work inside the former ticket booths, and old-school London Underground signage appears throughout. There are modern touches too – the decor could rival any of London’s latest restaurant openings, and a number of sought-after traders occupy the 10 stalls, including Calcutta Canteen, a new fast-food concept by Darjeeling Express’ Asma Khan, Yard Sale Pizza and Thima, a new opening by ex-Smoking Goat chef Seb Holmes.
The Fulham location is the first of three sites Market Halls plans to open across the capital this year.
